Strain Partitioning Within Bending Orogens, New Insights From the Variscan Belt (Chiroulet‐Lesponne Domes, Pyrenees)

چکیده
This study investigates how strain is partitioned within hot orogenic belts in a context of plate reorganization. We document crustal-scale strike-slip shear zones, plate-scale oroclinal bending, and widespread exhumation deep crustal domains the core nascent Pangea during late-Variscan times (ca. 310–290 Ma). The role partitioning finite patterns first highlighted at regional scale by new detailed structural, kinematic, petrologic analysis Chiroulet Lesponne gneiss domes Pyrenees. Equivalency of geologic and geodetic rates in contractional orogens: New insights from the Pamir Frontal Thrust
[1] Across contractional orogens, the equivalency between decadal convergence rates from geodetic GPS data and geologic shortening rates at time scales of thousands or millions of years has rarely been documented. Here, we present an example from the northern margin of Chinese Pamir, where the Main Pamir Thrust is tectonically quiescent, and recent deformation is concentrated on the Pamir Front...

In situ LA-MC-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon geochronology combined with cathodoluminescence imaging were carried out to determine protolith and metamorphic ages of orthogneisses from the Western Tatra Mountains (Central Western Carpathians). The metamorphic complex is subdivided into two units (the Lower Unit and the Upper Unit). Orthogneisses of the Lower Unit are mostly banded, fine- to medium-grained r...

متن کاملBiosorption of Strontium from Aqueous Solution by the New Strain of Bacillus sp. Strain GT-83
An attempt was made to isolate bacterial strains capable of removing strontium biologically. In this study ten different water samples collected from Neydasht spring in the north of Iran and then the bacterial species were isolated from the water samples. The initial screening of a total of 50 bacterial isolates resulted in selection of one strain. The isolated strain showed a maximum adsorptio...
